Who is the Piano Bird?

My name is Lark Popov and I am happiest when I am making music and sharing it with others. I am a soloist, chamber musician and teacher. My performing/recording career has been mainly as half of the piano duo, Popov & Vona, and recently as part of a vocal chamber duo. I have taught in both the U.S. and Canada for more than thirty years and am always seeking new ways to understand how we learn and how I can communicate this through the medium of music. I recently completed the RCM’s Smart Start Teacher Training Course which studied how learning music develops four cognitive skills crucial for learning including attention, memory, perception and cognitive flexibility.

COVID-19 UPDATE: Masks are no longer required in lessons. If you feel sick, however, please schedule a virtual lesson. When in doubt, wear a mask, as some students/families are immuno-compromised.

Preschool Program
- For ages 3-5
- Creating an early love of music!
- A one on one preschool program that is a wonderful early introduction to playing the piano. These active, engaging lessons for little people were developed by Wunderkeys, a Canadian company with printable games and activities. I was motivated to do this because I feel that the sooner little ones can be exposed to music and an instrument, the more likely they are to continue and have music as a part of their life.
